Measures
The subtest measures the ability to reason and see relationships among words.
It does not count toward the CSO composite.
Format
Verbal Analogies opens the battery.
The 25 items run in 8 minutes, under 20 seconds an item, and each item has five answer options.
Scoring
The score is based on the number of correct answers, with no penalty for a wrong guess.
The composites it feeds are reported as percentiles from 1 to 99.

Complete the analogy
The question gives a first pair of words and the first word of a second pair. You pick the single word that completes the second pair with the same relationship.
Pick the matching pair
The question gives only the first pair, and each option is a full pair of words. You pick the pair whose two words relate the same way.

The trainer drills ten relations: synonym, antonym, part and whole, category and member, cause and effect, degree, sequence, place, object and function, agent and tool. You meet each one in both item forms, as a word to complete and as a pair to pick.

Test mode runs 25 items in 8 minutes, the count and time of the real subtest, and ranks each score against other test-takers. The Statistics page plots the ranking of every attempt, so you see whether you are beating more test-takers than before.
