On the CAT-ASVAB, Auto Information and Shop Information are two separate subtests. Auto Information has 10 scored questions with a 7-minute time limit (up to 18 minutes with tryout questions), and Shop Information has 10 scored questions with a 6-minute time limit (up to 17 minutes with tryout questions). The paper-and-pencil version combines both into one Auto & Shop Information section: 25 questions in 11 minutes.

Not necessarily. While experience helps, AS tests basic automotive knowledge that can be learned through study. Focus on understanding how engines work, common tools and their uses, vehicle systems, and shop safety. Many test takers learn this material specifically for the ASVAB.
On the CAT-ASVAB, Auto Information and Shop Information are administered as two separate subtests. On the paper-and-pencil version, they're combined into a single Auto & Shop Information subtest. AS does not count toward the AFQT score, but it's commonly used in mechanical composite scores for many mechanical and technical jobs.
